SEEKING CAPITAL
We will be looking for Seed Round funding of $150K to $250K in order to fund further R&D research to
take prototype system and improve performance for a production system.
GET INVOLVED: NEED YOUR EXPERTISE. PLEASE HELP
a) Intense knowledge of the semiconductor industry, specifically the new LED marketplace.
B) We are still building our management team and advisors.
ABOUT THE VENTURE
Imagine that due to economical and regulatory forces all the lighting
fixtures that you have at home, your office and in all public
buildings have to change to a more efficient and more environmentally
friendly devices.
That is the scenario that we face sometime in the next 10 to 15 years.
We believe LED's (light emitting diodes) will replace incandescent
lamps (light bulbs or neon lamps) and any other form of illumination.
Why because the bulk of the energy generated by incandescent light
sources is wasted as heat, and also they require coatings of materials
that produce hazardous waste.
LEDs, on the other hand, have efficiencies higher than 30% and can be
produced in different colors. They require only a few volts and little
current to convert electrons into photons and can be modulated at high
or low frequencies depending on your needs.
The apparatus we would license uses photoluninescence (conversion of
energy into light) to provide a very good understanding of the
different layers that constitute the wafer and the mechanisms that
could lead to catastrophic failure. With that understanding, the
semiconductor process engineer could either rework the parts, reject
them or map the wafer so that the time and money spent in completing
the wafer is reduced.
At the present time, parts have to be completed and packaged before
you can test them and that means that the producers of such devices
waste a lot of money in rejected parts. The industry is very
competitive and the profit margins are slim, but the volumes are high
and, we believe, will explode in the next few years.
We estimate that at the present time the market size is in the order
of $100M, not too attractive to VC's although the smart ones may see
the future potential growth described herein.
CURRENT VENTURE TEAM STATUS
We have assembled a Venture Team, including the scientist, who recently left his company.
We are in the process of writing a business plan during the first quarter of 2008, with the idea to launch a company, raise capital
and license this patented technology by the 4th quarter.
We are seeking MBA GlobalNet members interested in joining our Venture
Team (to help write the business plan and then to serve as advisors
and as management). We need to write the business plan, receive a
license contingent on securing capital, and build this business. We
want to hear from you if you have a keen interest in what we described
above, and expertise and knowledge in semiconductors, electrical
engineering, chemistry, materials science or marketing. You must be
a US citizen to participate.
OPEN TO ADDING TO TEAM
We already have 4 members of the team, and two advisors. We are looking for a Venture
Team of 5-7 professionals.
